Lauren & Aaron

These two beautiful humans had the sweetest desert wedding.  It was a joyful union of families (who were excited to become a clan), a ceremony under a joshua tree, a dog party, and a true representation of their love.  Lauren and Aaron clearly celebrate each other daily and, as Lauren said in her vows, they encourage each other to remove the word "can't" from their vocabulary.

It was an honor to be among the chosen few who witnessed this gorgeous day.  Wishing the happy couple a lifetime of joy and adventure.

Julie & Dave - a Joshua Tree elopement

Julie and Dave were visiting Joshua Tree and decided to get married here.  They were going to head to the court house, but Mojave Sands Motel and Joshua Tree Wedding Company were happy to create a personal ceremony for them.  Both dressed in red, embodying love, they were married as the sun set.  Their desert wedding was intimate and heartfelt, with their two week old baby, Juniper, present.

It was an honor to document their day and to create their first family photos.  Much love to this beautiful family.

Celeste & Kenny

"They are in this together now;

this crazy, amazing, chaotic, wonderfully heartbreaking life

because it takes a Panda Warrior to love a Bunny Goddess

and a Bunny Goddess to show a Panda Warrior what REAL love is."

Celeste and Kenny have a passionate, whirlwind, true love.  They wanted to elope, but their sons requested that they "pause for love" and have a small ceremony.  So their closest friends and family gathered to celebrate their love in Joshua Tree, where they had their first family vacation at the Joshua Tree Music Festival .   Even more appropriately, they took all of their guests to the JTMF for their "reception".  It was such a beautiful, sunny day, filled with whole-hearted people and deep connection.

Kelly and Chris

Kelly is one of those people that no matter what, remains gentle. She brings a sense of belonging and comfort to everyone who crosses her path and has a purity of heart that shines through her eyes. She is beauty and grace. I had only met Chris once before but immediately recognized the ways he reflected this same presence. It was obvious they had found their match and when she asked us to be a part of what her and Chris were creating I obviously said "YES!" with my whole heart.

The entire vendor list was filled with the powerful business savvy women that Kelly holds close, which was an incredible thing to be a part of. Watching the family and friends that these two have accumulated for themselves come together and be genuinely engulfed in happiness and celebration was an inspiration. Not to mention the incredible style that every person there seemed to have.

It was a Sunday morning brunch in the MAAS building. Kelly arrived in Chris' dad's Malibu and they ended the day with the most beautiful pie. I absolutely adored the elegant simplicity of this day and hope that the weddings in my future carry something similar to this. It was authenticity at it's finest and that is what leads me to believe this is going to last a lifetime.

Congratulations, you two angels! May the married life treat you to all of the laughter and dancing it has to offer!

The Wild Hymns

A sultry, smoky resonance escapes the strings of his guitar. She matches his melody. The tune is carried on low clouds, getting stuck in the underbelly of a nearby ancient tree. It will stay there, protected by long and crooked limb, their song will now become a wild hymn.

This shoot was a collaboration of local vendors from the Lancaster county, Pennsylvania area. Megan and Jeff are a traveling band named The Wild Hymns. We hoped to bring in a deep and sultry vibe to this styled shoot as a reflection of the love and the music that these two share. Our local landscape holds a lot of magic in it’s rolling hills, rocky earth and seasonal nature. What was once before vibrant green fades to remind us of the wild and temporal state of our being and with that reminder we sink into what we love a little deeper, the sacred connections we share in creation. It is through our willingness to harmonize with each other that we will surely find both growth and surrender. We found all of that within this shoot. A team of women willing to come together and let it unfold, creating beauty and love in the fleeting moments we shared.

Britta And Tomy

Have you ever witnessed true chemistry between two people? Something you can see and sense existing in the space between their hearts? Something you know will withstand the challenges of a lifetime? These two have got it. They are going with the flow, ready for anything, and prepared to find comfort in what they share should the lights go out. It is a hopeful and romantic kind of love. Something that could very well have existed many times before and perhaps that is why it feels so damn timeless.

It was a classic backyard wedding on a cool September evening with the coolest tunes by the Thing with Two Heads and the most bad ass people to date. With a love like this and the blessings of Pearl, the most magical cat in all of the land, I've got a feeling this one is going to last forever.

Thank you so much for having us there.

Alex and Avery

Sometimes the love and connection you are looking for is right under your nose. All it requires is your attention, some shift in circumstance, and a little bit of magic to be seen. I remember the first time Alex came to me gushing about Avery. She was giddier than I had ever seen her. Completely wrapped in the excitement of the potential this relationship held in her heart and her mind. The first time I saw them together, I totally understood. They feed each other's funny bones in a way that is contagious. They know how to play together, they know how to get loose, while simultaneously running their business like bosses. It is a match made in heaven and I am inspired. These photos were taken in and around the vintage store they now run together and will be getting married in next month. I am so excited for the ways their lives and our community will flourish in this big giant, LOVE. If you haven't done so already, check out the culmination of this love, Redeux in Royal Square, York, Pa!

Theresa & Matt - the day after

Theresa and Matt had the brilliant idea to do a portrait session the day after their wedding.  It allowed for carefree exploration and captured them in their newlywed glow.   We had so much fun photographing these two as they wandered and danced, giving Theresa's beautiful gown one more twirl in the desert sunset.

Theresa & Matt

There is something to be said about a love that takes everyone involved in it to new places. This is what I witnessed as I watched friends and family gather from  around the country to be a part of the electric love of Theresa and Matt. They created a ceremony that invoked a presence that was palpable and followed it with a reception that was something like we've never seen before; A swing dance lesson followed by a silent disco. In order to create more time and space for their friends and family during this time, they scheduled their portrait session for the day following their wedding and we are so excited to share these images in a post to follow. It was all so apparent that these two are pioneers of love and celebration. They are not afraid to explore and create experiences that are outside of what is deemed traditional, which gives me faith in a love everlasting. A love created to dance and to move with the times. Congratulations, Theresa & Matt!!

John & Julie

Reflecting on this wedding today, I can think of nothing else but the apparent happiness these two bring to each other. There were so many moments when I would witness them just looking at each other and lighting up. There is a true and honest chemistry between them, something palpable, and obvious. I am so happy to know a love this accepting and joyful exists and I am going to hold onto the thought that it will grow more and more every day.

Thank you so much John and Julie. May you live this happily, forever.
