Molly and Evan

When Molly and Evan told me they were going through with their plan to wed on their intended date, my heart skipped a beat. To create space for Love at this moment in time feels like the most crucial thing we can do. To strip ourselves down to what is most important and to witness the beauty that exists in the heart of the matter is the healing serum of the century.

What I witnessed was PURE. It was the truth found in SIMPLICITY.

It was what happens when we choose to stand for love, amidst chaos.

Thank you for honoring me with the profoundness of this day, Molly and Evan.

Your Friend,

Tifani

Corryn and Nicholas

For this dreamy, lavender tinted/scented celebration all was whimsical and lovely. It’s as if the events unfolded effortlessly and everyone floated along, with hands held and hearts full. In the most incredible ceremony space, Corryn and Nicholas literally tied the knot, then danced into the early morning hours. To say it felt good to be there and bear witness is an understatement.

Lots of love and thanks to you, darling newlyweds.

Maye & Michael

Early morning on a weekday; the most beautiful elopement unfolded, set in the rainbow wonderland that is Salvation Mountain. With their daughters by their side, Maye and Michael officiated their wedding themselves. The most heartfelt vows, their sentimental adornments and details, wandering together through the maze and over the hills, complete with the dreamiest cake I’ll ever see. It was all surreal and it was a blessing to witness.

Jenna & Jono

Everything about this beautiful day was rooted in a deep love of community. The ways in which they gathered with intention, offered blessings and wisdom, shared their talents and energy, and celebrated the expansion of family. Jenna and Jono have surrounded themselves with some incredible beings and they sure are loved.

Lauren & Stephen

A lot of what we do here at Sage and Swan happens through word of mouth. We are a small business and hope to focus in on the communities that “feel” us, the ones we are apart of, and can view in authenticity. Lauren and Stephen were a perfect example of what we dream of when thinking about the “perfect” clients. Stephen’s hands built the fire pit that kept the party warm, the bar that served the spirits, and the altar that held the love. Lauren’s heart was radiantly apparent in the way the timing of this day flowed. She was laid back, as sweet as honey, and filled with deep belly laughter. Their friends and their family surrounded and supported them and it was clear that what these two are capable of building together will be built to last.

Tara & Shag

Late September by the Susquehanna, Tara walked down the aisle to Pink Floyd and Shag moved his glasses as to not obstruct the tears. To say it was the quickest exchange of vows I have ever seen would be an absolute understatement. We will call it a kiss. It was sweet and it made me think a lot about the things that can be said without words. What can be offered in the way we show up to face the other. What we can see on each others faces and if we know that person well enough how much we can communicate through our eyes (and sometimes our lips) alone.

The potluck was a beautiful reminder of the way it feels to come together. The drinks were sweet and strong and the river offered us inspiration on how it feels to go with the flow. Tara and Shag said it was about the party and I actually hear that a lot. In this case, it felt very true. Bustle and Bump moved us well into the night and we remembered our roots among our oldest friends. I imagine it as a prelude to the joy, laughter, friendship, and resilience that is to come for these two.

May it last forever!

Kara & Josh

A word to describe what I experienced the day Josh and Kara got married. The way it felt to be in the salon with Kara and her daughters, playing in the mirrors. The way it feels to have friends that feel like family do your hair. The perfect words to describe the looks on her daughter’s faces when she stepped into her dress, or the way they watched her as she applied her “all day stay” lipstick. The way deep burgundy velvet and Gucci feels.

It’s rich.

Josh got ready by himself in the old farmhouse on their friend’s property. Dolly Parton sang from the old television speakers that the farmer watched as he sat in his reclining chair in the next room over. Josh reflected his environment. He was deliberate, mindful, and slow. He buttoned his vest while he moved quietly about the room, crossed and knotted his tie, slipped his Gucci loafers on and walked out the front door. The screen door was old and heavy, declaring this sacred movement loudly as it slammed closed behind him.

They met on the walkway before the ceremony. That is when I watched time stop. In the moment they came together it totally let go of it’s grips on the day and they moved into a space between it. Their own time. Within it, a deep sense of belonging, understanding, and connection communicated in the ways their eyes meet. They are truly together.

It’s rich.

The ceremony took place under an old oak tree. Flowers and the finest people surrounded them as they spoke their promises into the end of summer’s air. Magical keys unlocked a new season. The dinner table spanned a quarter mile and they danced a moment together in a field of medicinal herb. Their love is medicine.

The barn held a dimly lit, totally alive, party in it’s arms for the entirety of that night.

Lancaster county’s bounty.

The word is rich.

Ali & Julia

Do you ever have those moments of total satisfaction? When you know that you are exactly where you are meant to be, doing exactly what you are meant to be doing, and this undeniable feeling of joy rises within you? Basically, that is how this whole day felt. Ali and Julia expressed to me early on that this wedding was more about the merging of family tradition than it was about their individual desires to wed. They had been together for many years, are raising two incredibly beautiful children, and balancing selfless and loving lives. They wanted to offer their families a space to come together, to honor their traditions, and to celebrate what is meant to be shared. They hosted two ceremonies.

The first, a traditional Christian ceremony, led by Ali’s mother, a graduate from the Lancaster Seminary, where the wedding was held. This location was very special to all of them, as it was the first place they called home when they decided to move to this town. The children recalled their very early memories of playing in the courtyard with their friends and pointed out their front door in the dorm to me. Ali’s mother talked a lot about accepting each other as family, regardless of our judgements of the other, regardless of where we come from. She talked of keeping an open heart and open hands, to helping each other out. Their personal vows to each other spoke of the synchronicities that brought them together, the satisfaction they have experienced in surrender to the love they share, and the adventures that stand before them.

Ali works for a non-profit called Salone Rising. Focusing on helping small business owners in Sierra Leone, West Africa thrive, it takes him far from home for extended periods of time. Julia is an incredible mother and music teacher, educating children from her local community to play music and running a blog called The Music Mommy. From this point on, she and the children will join him during the extended stays in West Africa.

Naturally, the second ceremony, honored the traditions and visiting families from West Africa. A procession of drums created a beat that carried Ali to Julia. A ceremony rich in deep symbolism and offerings to the family of the bride, she accepted his traditional proposal three times, creating a chord that would carry them through a lifetime together. There were many, many beautiful and touching moments during the brief time I shared with them on this day. One of the most touching things I heard shared during the second ceremony was that when I bride is accepted into the tribe, every man accepts her as his own. Meaning, that they honor, respect, and protect her as if she was their own family. They viewed her now, as one of their own.

I am so honored to have been a witness to the merging of these traditions and these families. I was truly changed by the experience and hope to carry a piece of it with me forever.

Thank you so much Ali and Julia, for the endlessly enriching experience that was this day!

Kara and Josh's Pre-Wedding Session

I asked Kara to tell me about the vows she is writing. Her and Josh are getting married in a few short weeks and we decided to get together just to get comfortable and play with the camera a bit before the big day. She began to talk about it and her entire energy field changed. She went into the depths of her understanding of what her and Josh share and it was truly beyond words in that moment for her. She told me she knew the moment their eyes met that he was the one and that they couldn't stop staring at each other when they realized who the other was. It brings me to tears to even think about the way she described it now. As she was talking, Josh stood there, in this unwavering connection but with an heir of lightness, playfulness, and pride about him. She mentioned that it was one of the best qualities about him. His ability to keep it light and then they swayed together under the evergreens and I worked on keeping my eyes from leaking so I could capture it all through the lens. There is something between these two that makes me want to laugh with intense joy and excitement. There is a beauty, a liveliness, a sexiness about these two that inspires those who get the chance to share in whatever they are actually up to. It is hard to tell, to be honest, because it is utterly between them. Something they are in on together. It's expressed in whispers and laughter and movement and I am honored to have seen it at all. Thank you so much Josh and Kara! I am so looking forward to hearing those vows!!!!

Ali & Brian

This adventurous couple had the most fantastical wedding, appropriately set in the Adventure Aquarium .  It's obvious that they are truly at their happiest when together, immersing themselves in every moment.  They live life to the fullest and purely from the heart; traveling often, dancing hard, laughing a lot... loving each other, and those dear to them, deeply.

It was an absolute pleasure to document their day.  It's an enormous honor to be counted among their friends.
